Armenia social card: get it in 1 day

The social card is your Public Services Number (ՀԾՀ), a 10-digit ID. Without it you cannot open a bank account, register as a sole proprietor or apply for residency in Armenia. Foreigners get it at a Migration Service office, usually the same day. Barev Club handles everything for 25,000 ֏: passport translation, appointment and an escort.

What the social card is

“Social card” is the everyday name for the Public Services Number (ՀԾՀ, PSN). It is a unique 10-digit number the state assigns to Armenian citizens and to foreigners legally present in the country.

Foreigners receive a certificate with the number rather than a plastic card. If you already hold a residence permit, the number may be printed on your residence card.

Why you need it

  • open a bank account and card in Armenia;
  • register a sole proprietorship or LLC;
  • pay taxes and receive an official salary;
  • apply for a residence permit;
  • book a doctor at a state clinic;
  • buy a car and get an Armenian driving licence.

Documents you need

  • Passport with an Armenian entry stamp.
  • Notarised Armenian translation of the main passport page — we do this for you.
  • An address in Armenia: a rented flat or hotel is fine, no registration needed.
  • If you entered on a Russian internal passport, a notarised translation of it too. This can add a few days.

Sometimes an office asks for a birth certificate or proof of registration. We will tell you in advance if it is needed.

Frequently asked questions

Can I get a social card without a residence permit?

Yes. The number is issued to foreigners legally present in Armenia, for example on an entry stamp. You do not need a residence permit.

How long does it take to get a social card?

Most offices issue the certificate the same day, some the next day. We prepare the notarised passport translation in advance, so the whole process usually takes 1–2 days.

Do I need to speak Armenian?

No. An escort who speaks Armenian and English or Russian goes with you and fills in the form for you.

Can I get a social card without going in person?

A representative with a power of attorney can collect the certificate, and with an Armenian electronic signature it can be done online. If you are not in Yerevan, message us and we will find a way.

How is the social card different from a tax ID (ՀՎՀՀ)?

The social card (ՀԾՀ) is a personal number. ՀՎՀՀ is the tax number that sole proprietors and companies receive. You need a social card before you can register as a sole proprietor.
